Mahmood Masoomi was arrested along with three others civil rights activists by Iran's security officials on May 12, 2016. He is kept in the jail for unrealistic reasons since the arrest.

Mahmood Massomi, Shima Babai, Elham Rasoolibaghi and Freydoon Ahmadpoor was reportedly detained during a peaceful protest to support the Iranian researcher on alternative medicine Mohammad-Ali Taheri. The 14 detainees were brutally beaten by officials in a raid to the protest, rights groups said.
Mahmood was taken to Fashafooyeh prison for alleged conflict with officials and then transferred to the infamous Evin prison. He was accused of the vague charges at Branch three of the infamous Shahid Moghadasi Court of Evin.
