Iran: Arbitrary Arrests of Sunni Ahwazi Activists Are Being Continued

Iran's security forces have detained several Sunni Arab activists in a raid happened in the south of Ahwaz on 29 June 2015.

Officials have reportedly raided in Malashiyeh where located in the south of Khuzestan Province's capital, Ahwaz and arrested several Ahwazi Arab citizens according to the news received by BCR Group.

The detainees were allegedly handcuffed and severely beaten in front of their relatives in the earlier moments of the raid, according to reliable sources within Ahwaz received by Karim Dahimi, the Ahwazi rights activist.


Some of the detainees' name are as follow:

1. Mehdi Heydari, 32, son of Lofteh.

2. Abdul-Hakim Khasraji, 27, son of Hussain.

3. Sajjad Alhaei, 19, son of Najm.

4. Heydar Naseri who is 29-year-old.

5. Ayoub Heydari.

6. Ahmad Badawi.

7. Abbas Badawi.


There is not any information of their wellbeing and their whereabout as well as the lack of clear reason for their arrest, Karim Dahimi added.

However, he underscored that such arbitrary arrests are often carry out annually in a bid to prevent Ahwazi Sunni prayers from practicing their religion freely.
