Recent news indicates that two prisoners convicted of felony crimes brutally attacked political prisoners in Hall 12 of Ward 4 of the notorious Rajai Shahr prison on November 28, 2015.

The attacked prisoners of conscience included Saeed Madani, Saeed Razavi Faghih, Behzad Arab Gol, Kamran Ayazi and Jafar Eghdami, who all demanded transferring the attackers from their hall by starting a hunger strike, the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Rights prisoners announced.

There is no separation of prisoners by types of offenses in Rajai Shar prison, the prisoners of conscience are passing their sentences amongst criminals imprisoned for serious offenses such as murder, rape, drug smuggling, embezzlement, fraud and forgery. Officials have reportedly been blind to such incidents as beatings, threats and terrorising by aggressive criminal inmates in the prison.
