Iran's Regime Sentences Six Political Prisoners to 190 Years Prison in Exile

Six Kurdish political prisoners Mohammad-Hussein Rezai, Kamal Sharifi, Afshin Sohrabzadeh, Fardin (Fakhr al-Din) Faraji, Changiz Ghadamkheyr and Ayoub Asadi were totally sentenced to 190 years in prison.

Iran's judicial officials held its charges against the Kurdish prisoners respectively 45, 30 and 25 years imprisonment in Minab prison of Hormozgan Province, 40 years exile in Masjed Soleyman prison in Khuzestan Province, 30 years exile in Tabas prison in South Khorasan Province and 20 years exile in Kashmar prison in Razavi Khorasan Province, BCR Group has learned. 


Mohammad-Hussein Rezai

Mohammad-Hussein (Khosrow) Rezai, 31, was reportedly detained along with Fardin (Fakhr al-Din) Faraji, Changiz Ghadamkheyr and Ayoub Asadi on the vague charges of Moharebeh (enmity of God) in a village of Sanandaj city on 2011. They were sentenced to prison at Branch 1 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj chaired by Judge Babai on August 11, 2012.

He was sentenced to 30 years exiled in Minab prison, afterwards, judicial authorities flung out his former suspended sentence against Mr. Rezai that the total penalty would be 45 years. He was finally transferred to Minab prison from Central Sanandaj prison to serve his prison term on April 2013.

Furthermore, the biased judge had no mercy for the other inmates holding prison term in exile at the same time in the same court. Changiz Ghadamkheyr was sentenced to 40 years exile in Masjed Soleyman prison in Khuzestan Province, Fardin Faraji to 30 years exile in Tabas prison in South Khorasan Province and Ayoub Asadi to 20 years exile in Kashmar prison in Razavi Khorasan Province.

 

Kamal Sharifi

Kamal Sharifi, 43, son of Bayazid, was arrested on May 25, 2008, and sentenced to 30 years imprisonment in exile at Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Saqqez County in Kurdistan Province and transferred to Minab prison. According to news, he was apparently detained in a raid at the house of a bookman by IRGC officials. The Bookman was allegedly shot to die, the rights groups said.

He had committed long-term hunger strike to protest against his critical condition in the notorious Minab prison, whereupon, he suffers from the digestive disorder. 

Previously, he, the Kurdish journalist, was arrested on the vague charges of biased activities with Kurdish opposition parties and sentenced to a year imprisonment and 40 lashes at the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Saqqez in the 80s.

Kamal was formerly convicted to death along with Shirkoh Ma'arefi, who was hanged, although, the sentence reduced to a prison term in exile without accessing his relatives. Judge Shayegh held its charges against him for Moharebeh (enmity against God) in the self-proclaimed court in a couple of minutes, human rights activists declared.

He is kept amongst dangerous criminal imprisoned for serious offences such as murder, rape, drug smuggling, fraud and forgery and has not the rights accessing conditional release.

 

Afshin Sohrabzadeh

Afshin Sohrabzadeh, was arrested by Intelligence Service officials in Kamyaran County on June 8, 2010, and transferred to Sanandaj prison after a while.

He was sentenced to 25 years in exiled prison at Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj for membership of Kurdish opposition parties.

Afshin Sohrabzadeh, the 24-year-old Kurdish man, one of the Kurdish prisoners who is held in Minab Prison is at imminent risk of death due to intestine cancer and internal bleeding, rights groups said.

Sohrabzadeh is in very dire health condition as he is suffering from intestinal cancer and internal bleeding. He was finally transferred to the notorious Evin prison in Tehran from Minab prison for medical services. Officials returned him back to Minab prison by Kurdistan Persecutor's decision with no treatment, Human Rights Defenders Association of Kurdistan reported. His body's immune system has severely depleted as a result of cancer effects; officials have allegedly refused the rights of medical leave, his relatives declared. Previously, the reliable specialist closed to the Medical Commission of the Hormozgan Province Prisons said that Mr. Sohrabzadeh's condition would certainly not be appropriate to stay in these circumstances in the prison.

Mr. Sohrabzadeh, from Kermanshah, was arrested by Intelligence Service officials in Kamyaran city on 8 June 2010, Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj city held its charges against him on the charge of "Moharebeh" (waging war against God) through membership in one of the opponent Kurdish Parties known as Komoleh, and sentenced to 25 years in exile to Minab prison. He was exiled to Minab prison in Feb 2012. He had reportedly experienced severe tortures during his interrogation in the chambers by Deputy Intelligence Service of Kamyaran; his nose is broken. Officials had apparently taken him to Rajai Shahr prison, notwithstanding, his hernia was ruptured in the detention where the goal of inquisition. Human Rights Defenders Association of Kurdistan asks Iran̢۪s authorities to attempt to unconditional release of Mr. Afshin Sohrabzadeh and facilitate medical treatment in an equipped clinic.
