A Baha'I Citizen Arrested on Trumped up Charges

 Zabih al-Allah RaoofiAccording to recent reports, a group of Baha’I citizens were forcibly made to bring accusations against another Baha’I citizen, Zabih al-Allah Raoofi, in Sanandaj City of Kurdistan Province.

Iranian Intelligence Service officials had forced them to accuse Mr. Raoofi of vague charges of “spreading Baha’I faith” and “misleading citizens, BCR Group has learned.

Mr. Raoofi, 66, was arrested by Intelligence Service officials on a raid at his house and taken to detention at 8 A.M on September 8 2015. Officials seized his personal belongings such as books, CDs and some photos and pamphlets. He was finally released on the bail of 30 million Tomans ($10,000 ) on September 14, 2015.

His wife Parvaneh Rahmani was allegedly detained by officials on December 20 2015.

Previously, he was arrested for propaganda against the regime of Iran in 2009 and sentenced to a year in prison in Toyserkan County of Hamadan Province; finally Mr. Raoofi was released from the jail by the appeal court’s pardon after having served six months of the sentence.

Human rights activists declare that Baha’I citizens are persecuted by being arrested and jailed for alleged charges as “propaganda against national security” and “propaganda against the regime of Iran” by the ruling mullahs .
