Some political prisoners have continued their hunger strike protest despite their critical health conditions in Rajai Shahr prison, Boroujerdi Civil Rights Group has learned.

Sad to say, Iranian authorities have turned a blind eye on the protest, while the International Community is still silent.

The politically imprisoned Iraj Hatami, Farid Azmoodeh and Behzad Tarahomi, started their hunger strike against their unjust transfer to the public ward amongst criminal prisoners, they started the hunger strike on March 13, 2016.

According to the news, Iraj Hatami had repeated neurological and heart attacks in the past, reliable sources confirmed.

Then, Afshin Baymani, who has been jailed in Rajai Shahr prison for 16 years, started a hunger strike to support the other protesters on March 27, 2016. Later, other inmates Saeid Shirzad and Masoud Arab Choobdar also started a hunger strike siding with the imprisoned protesters on March 31, 2016.

A large number of political prisoners are kept in the public ward of Rajai Shahr prison regardless of their charges' category under the law. They are housed in the public Ward amongst criminals imprisoned for serious offenses such as murder, rape, drug smuggling, embezzlement, fraud and forgery.

Among the political prisoners can be noted the following people:

Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, Soheil Babadi, Ahmad Karimi, Arjang Davoodi, Ebrahim Firoozi, Ali-Akbar Ardeshir, Alireza Farahani, Mehdi Shandiz, Ali Mashhadi, Yaser Hamidi Shahrabi and Mehdi Azimi.
