Zakiyeh Neysi, 26, the environmentalist and cultural activist, was arrested by Intelligence Service officials in Ahwaz City on May 17, 2016, the local human rights activists reported. Officials seized her personal belongings- books, cell phone and PC- after an attack on her house in Kian Shahr District of Ahwaz.
An agricultural engineer, she was taken to Intelligence Service office of Amaniyeh in Ahwaz, Karim Dahimi an Ahwazi rights activist, said. She had frequently campaigned against derailing Karoon River's water. The region has suffered a hard drought for the last two decades.
