Iran: 20 Baha’I Citizens Sentenced to Prison

Sasan Haghiri, a Baha’I citizen, went to the central prison of Isfahan city to serve his imprisonment term on 13 June 2015.

Sasan, 34, who has two children was detained by Police Forces and taken to the prison as rights group said. 

He was arrested along with several Baha’I citizens on 31 July 2012. Sasan was convicted to a year imprisonment and suspended sentence at branch first of the Revolutionary Court of Yazd city and the verdict confirmed in the Appeal Court on 16 April 2014.

The court has accused him with charges propaganda against the regime and collusion against national security through demonstration according to the Baha’I activist reports received by BCR Group.

20 Baha’I citizens who were previously detained by officials sentenced to a year to four years imprisonment and suspended sentence.

The names of them and their verdicts are as follows:

Saba Golshan arrested in the city of Isfahan and sentenced to four years imprisonment and a year suspended sentence.

Shahram Eshraghi and Khosrow Dehghani were arrested in Isfahan city and convicted to three years imprisonment and a year suspended sentence.

Navid Haghigh, Iman Rashidi and Shahram Fallah who were arrested respectively in the cities of Yasouj, Kerman and Yazd sentenced to three years imprisonment and a year suspended sentence.

Fariborz Baghi, Nategheh Haiemi, Shabnam Motahed and Fariba Ashtari were arrested in the city of Yazd and sentenced to two years imprisonment and a year suspended sentence.

Farah BAghi, Mehran Eslami, Azam Motahari, Farahnaz Misaghiyan were arrested in the city of Yazd and sentenced to a year imprisonment and a year suspended.

Sohrab Naghipour, Azar Tolooei, Sasan Haghiri, Tahereh Rouhani and Vida Haghighi were arrested in Isfahan city and sentenced to a year imprisonment and a year suspended sentence.
