Mahmoud Masoumi, the civil rights activist, was transferred again to the Great Tehran prison (Fashafooyeh) on June 5, 2016. Mahmoud was arrested along with three others civil rights activists by Iran's security officials on May 12, 2016. He, 21, is kept in the jail for unrealistic reasons since the arrest.

Mahmoud Masoumi, Shima Babai, Elham Rasoolibaghi and Freydoon Ahmadpoor was reportedly detained during a peaceful protest in support the Iranian researcher on alternative medicine Mohammad-Ali Taheri. The 14 detainees were brutally beaten by officials in a raid to the protest, rights groups said.

Mahmoud, the aeromechanic student at the Saha University of Applied Science and Technology in Tehran, was previously taken to the Great Tehran prison for alleged conflict with officials and then transferred to the infamous Evin prison. He was accused of the ambiguous charges at Branch three of the notorious Shahid Moghadasi Court of Evin.
