Mohammad-Ali Taheri Convicted to Death

Mohammad-Ali Taheri, an Iranian physician, researcher and author in the field of Interuniversalist alternative medicine, was sentenced to death at branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court according to the Governmental News Agencies.

Dr. Taheri, the founder of a spiritual group who has been in Evin prison since May 2011, convicted to capital punishment on the charge of �Ifsad fi al-Arz� (spreading corruption on Earth) as his lawyer Mahmoud Alizadeh said.

He has been in the solitary confinements since his arrest, and in Nove 2014, he had begun a dry hunger strike (the method that the prisoners refuse both food and water) for 25 days to protest against his unfair isolation inside Ward 2-Alef Sepah at Evin prison.

Mr. Taheri has been passed his detention in the Islamic Republic chambers where the goal of inquisition with inhumane methods during the interrogating as rights groups declared.

The governmental news agencies closed to Iran�s Intelligence Service said that Mr. Taheri convicted to six years imprisonment. He was previously sentenced to 37 years in prison, fine and lashes on the charge of blasphemy, disturbing the medical treatment and touching the female patients in the Revolutionary Court on 2014-2015 as news agencies said.

Mr. Taheri asked Ahmed Shaheed, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, to review his case by sending an open letter in April 2014.
